Wooday, the wood fuel producer and distributor and subsidiary of Everwood, announces the acquisition of the Ile-de-France company Bois Bûche Molinario (91). The aim is to continue the company’s national expansion by acquiring a major new production site to strengthen its presence in the Ile-de-France region.

Wooday continues its strong growth dynamic in France. On June 5, the producer and distributor of wood fuel for the domestic and professional markets completed a new external growth operation, with the acquisition of 100% of Bois Bûche Molinario, based in Guibeville (91).

Created and managed for over 45 years by the Molinario couple, the company is a regional player recognized for its experience and the quality of its offer. From its Guibeville site, the family-run company purchases, produces and delivers logs to 5 departments in the Ile-de-France region: Seine-et-Marne (77), Yvelines (78), Essonne (91), Hauts-de-Seine (92) and Val-de-Marne (94). Each year, the company sells around 35,000 steres of wood, mainly to private customers, and employs 13 people, with sales in 2023 of over 3 million euros.

10 million euros for the Guibeville site by 2027

The acquisition of Bois Bûche Molinario will enable the Wooday Group to increase its market share nationwide and strengthen its presence in the Paris region by adding a new production site for a long-established brand with a strong reputation in the sector. The acquisition is accompanied by a 3-year strategic plan. The aim of this plan is to boost Bois Bûche Molinario’s business so that the Guibeville site achieves sales of over 10 million euros by 2027.

To achieve this, the company plans to ramp up production capacity and diversify its offering, especially with the launch of pellets and compressed logs in bulk and pallets. Finally, it aims to expand its catchment area throughout the Ile-de-France region by opening other distribution sites.

Wooday: strong growth ambitions in a fragmented market

The acquisition of Bois Bûche Molinario marks Wooday’s 4th external growth operation since its creation in 2017, positioning the company as a consolidator in the industry. Specializing in the production and distribution of firewood, Wooday delivers all over France through a solid logistics network consolidated by its own facilities, a strong digital presence, and through a network of around a hundred delivery and click & collect points. The company has 4 production sites in Angoulême, Le Mans, Nantes and Guibeville. It also owns 4 online sales platforms (le-kastor.com, boisenergienord.fr, bois-brazeco.com et boisbuchemolinario.fr) and offers an in-store collection service.

Following on from its acquisition of Bois Bûche Molinario, Wooday is planning to open two new distribution outlets in the west of France. The company’s strategy of nationwide expansion will be extended to the East, thanks to its offer combining physical outlets with digital e-commerce sites. The new openings will be accompanied by the launch of a bulk pellet delivery service this summer, as well as the launch of a complete range of products for the BtoB market under the “Wooday” brand. These projects should enable the company to increase its sales fivefold over the next five years.

“At a time when French households are increasingly confronted with rising energy costs, heating with wood is the most economical and local solution for heating. At Wooday, we’re determined to meet consumers’ expectations by providing them with suitable, high-quality wood fuel, available throughout France. It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the acquisition of Bois Buche Molinario, which fits in perfectly with our development plan, which aims to make Wooday a leading player in the production and distribution of wood fuels in France,” explains Xavier Mahieu, Wooday’s Sales and Marketing Director.

The acquisition of Bois Bûche Molinario was carried out with the help of banking partners Banque Populaire Val de France and Banque Populaire Grand Ouest.
